They have been referred to
as metallic sponges.

porosity is necessary to provide
the appropriate volume
of
oil required for self lubrication
and long life.
Instead of oil in the porous structure,

Bushings employ solid lubricants. These proprietary
solid lubricants allow for dry
running, high & low
temperature
operation and long bushing life.

alloy of powders coupled
with solid lubricants
into appropriate
percentages,
presses the powders into
bushings
and then sinters.
Sintering forms micro welds
between grains
and densifies
the
part - locking
the solid lubricants in the
porous skeleton.
